A good recipe
deserves credit.
Maple & Midnight uses the original prefix-flip rules, signed-permutation encoding, complete breadth-first distance fields, level sampler and 23-level campaign from z-biz-game / Pancake (MIT). Pinned commit b64edcaf2d66f8bd021ceeece86e02786d630b9c. Observed October 31, 2026: 0 stars; latest push October 30, 2026.
The English interface, generated pancake artwork, synthesized sound, responsive presentation and local record handling are new for this edition. Exact minimum flip counts and optimal hints come from the bundled upstream engine. Hinted serves are recorded as assisted; this edition allows assisted campaign completion without awarding unassisted stars.
One original 2×2 pancake texture atlas was generated with OpenAI's built-in GPT image tool, optimized to a local WebP, and mapped onto every playable pancake. No upstream artwork was reused. The app has no runtime network dependency.
